Hi there! My name is Karen and I am the proud owner of Urban Whyte Inc. which is located in the beautiful town of Devon, Alberta.
My business started during the summer of 2014 as a creative outlet after long days in the office (dreary....and not very fulfilling!) Never thinking it would amount to much more than a few sales to family or friends, I started building some stools...and then a headboard...and then a dining table. Before long the word started to spread via social media (and good old fashioned word-of-mouth) and all of the sudden I had a lot more orders than time! Talk about a wild dream come true for a girl who would rather be creating than filing paperwork in a office...so we made the decision to "Go Big or Go Home" as they say and I quit my day job to set up shop in the garage.
Within a year, Urban Whyte outgrew the home workshop and was blessed to find a suitable location in Devon where we could set up shop...as well as a store and classroom space! Starting in September 2015 we opened the doors of our rustic little barn-like shop. We taught hundreds of fun-filled workshops and even began to consign local handmade goods to compliment our own products....and then before we knew it we outgrew our location...again!
In March 2018 we have successfully opened a larger location on the main street in Devon. Our new store is spacious yet charming and home to over 40 very talented artisans who showcase their goods. Our stock is constantly changing with their evolving inventory...many items are one-of-a-kind so if you see something you like don't wait too long to buy it!
We also have an amazing workshop space that will comfortably fit up to 20 students (depending on the project!) and we host DIY workshops year-round. Our helpful staff is happy to assist you with your projects and you will leave with a unique piece of decor that you are proud to display in your home...or give as a gift!
We look forward to meeting you when you come by to shop, or take a workshop, or even just for a visit.
Blessings,
Karen and the Urban Whyte staff
